Since 2006, the artist has been filming work and production processes in craft workshops, factories and scientific laboratories. As a moving archive, the encyclopedia consists of video modules, each of which highlights specific questions. These include the implicit knowledge of manual work processes inscribed in the body as well as the translation of manual work into the purely mechanical. By visually condensing these connections and placing them in relation to one another, Rose makes them visible in the first place. Filmic means such as framing and synchronization as well as the spatiotemporal montage of videos in the exhibition space play a central role.
